Weekly Update from Gaza
Since the IOF isolated the Gaza Strip from the outside world and a humanitarian crisis has emerged.
During the last week, the IOF conducted 5 incursions into Palestinian communities in the Gaza Strip, killing 2 and wounded 16 others, including 3 children and a woman.
During the incursions, a number of civilian homes were taken over and turned into military bases. One further house was demolished and 163 donums of agricultural land was razed.
The IOF arrested 3 Palestinian civilians, and a further 4 Palestinian fishermen.
Palestinian civilians from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip continue to be denied access to Jerusalem.
The continued closure of Gazas Rafah International Crossing Point has left 6,000 Palestinians stranded on the Egyptian side of the border waiting to return to their homes in the Gaza Strip. Most of them have run out of money and are living on assistance.
Since Wednesday 26 September 2007, the IOF imposed a total siege on the OPT giving rise to severe restrictions on the movement of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem.
