Unique summer student tour to Palestine
A unique students’ tour to Palestine in June will see participants meet Palestinian students and key student organisations.
Olive Co-operative have organised this tour which will also allow students to visit a range of Palestinian universities, schools and dynamic youth projects in addition to sites of historical, religious and cultural interest.
A large part of the tour will be based in the beautiful city of Tulkarem in the northern part of the West Bank where it is hoped participants will be able to gain a broad experience of what life is like in the troubled region.
While the tour’s budget and itinerary have been designed with students in mind, costing £490 for nine nights, it is however open to anyone.
Tour dates (13th -22nd June) coincide with the UK University summer holidays.
Arrival will be on Wednesday 13 June from where the participants will make their way to Ramallah, Jerusalem.
The next day will involve a visit to Bir Zeit University near Ramallah including meetings with students, lecturers and international activists, including an overnight in Ramallah hotel.
On Friday a meeting will take place with Sharek, Youth Forum; an organisation that promotes young people’s dynamic development through a plethora of innovative and vibrant methods and activities.
The weekend will involve a travel to Tulkarem, Saturday, and a visit to Tulkarem refugee camp.
The rest of the tour will see a visit to Jenin, including a visit to the American University in the village of Zababdeh near Jenin, and a possible visit to Jenin refugee camp. There will also be possible visit to Nablus including An-Najah University, and an optional free day in Jerusalem and/ or Bethlehem, with departure on day 10, Friday 22 June Day.
