OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Sheikh Ra’ed Salah, the head of the Islamic Movement in the 1948 occupied lands, said that the Zionist scheme to judaize occupied Jerusalem through ethnic cleansing became crystal clear after the IOA ordered the expulsion of Jerusalemite citizens from their homes in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

Sheikh Salah, during a conference held in the neighborhood in solidarity with the Jerusalemite families threatened with eviction, appealed to the conscientious people in the world to support the steadfastness of these families and participate in the picket held in the neighborhood.

He also called on the Arab and Islamic leaders and peoples not to stay passive towards the serious Israeli violations against the holy city and the Aqsa Mosque.

For its part, the Palestinian caretaker government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya strongly denounced the repeated Israeli violations in Jerusalem especially the seizure and demolition of homes, considering such practices as part of a big campaign aimed to judaize the holy city and destroy the Aqsa Mosque.

In a statement issued following its weekly cabinet meeting on Tuesday and a copy of which was received by the PIC, the government announced its full support for the families in Jerusalem, calling on the Arab countries to shoulder their religious and national responsibilities towards what is happening against the holy city and Mosque.

It also called on the international community and the humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to save the Gaza Strip, which suffers from an acute shortage of fuel, and to pressure Israel to stop this policy of mass punishment and its violation of human rights in Palestine.

The statement strongly condemned the crimes committed by Israeli settlers on the Palestinian people in the West Bank, saying that the unleashing of their assaults on citizens is a fruit of the PA-Israeli security coordination.

It underlined that all the political arrests which happened in the West Bank were against Hamas cadres and other Palestinian resistance factions and were carried out in coordination with the Israeli occupation, noting that there are more than 600 political detainees in PA jails including teachers, students, officials, doctors and media men.

The statement also stressed that the successful start of any dialog requires an immediate halt to arrest campaigns and the release of all political detainees in PA jails.
