Panorama joins crusade against Interpal

31st July 2006

On the day the Israeli army massacred 53 civilians, 30 of whom were children, in the Lebanese village of Qana, the publicly funded BBC decided to air a Panorama programme which sought to demean and undermine the occupied and subjugated people of Palestine in favour of the rights of the state of Israel.

At a time when Israel is leading an illegally disproportionate assault on a sovereign state while simultaneously bringing death and destruction to the occupied people of Gaza; instead of reporting on the humanitarian crisis on both of these fronts, the Panorama is allowing a witch hunt against a charity that has struggled for years to relieve at least some of the suffering inflicted by Israel on Palestinian civilians stated Ismail Patel, Chair of Friends of Al-Aqsa.

The Mosad led Panorama programme was fronted by John Ware; a reporter renowned for his Islamaphopbic stance; whose previous programmes included attacking prominent British Muslims. The programme contained wide sweeping allegations of the British Charity Interpals links to terrorism, which were supported by ABSOLUTELY NO credible evidence, except for statements from Mosad and the FBI. There was clearly a pre-determined agenda which John Ware acceded to; questioning his credibility as an independent journalist.

The BBC claims to be balanced in its reporting on the Middle East Conflict. We hope that they will therefore allow a right of reply to this very bias reporting. In the least, we hope there will be a similar show detailing the British charities that support and directly fund Israels illegal settlement policy in occupied Palestinian lands in clear and absolute contravention of the Geneva Conventions, stated Ismail Patel, Chair of Friends of Al-Aqsa.
