Dear Mark Hendrick,

You expressed your own concerns on the Palestinian issue at the recently held fundraiser in Preston. I therefore hope, that you give the following matter the attention it deserves.

I find the response of the British Foreign Secretary to last week’s attacks by the Israeli army in Gaza totally inadequate. Would you please ask Ms. Beckett on my behalf the following questions:

Would you please explain:

1. Why when you “call for an immediate end to the launching of rockets against Israeli civilian targets, and to all forms of violence “, you do not call for an immediate end to the use of fighter jets, missiles and rockets by the Israeli army?

2.Why the British government does not condemn the latest killings by the Israeli army in Gaza?

3.You state that “We deeply regret the deaths of civilians on both sides” can you please tell me how many Israelis have been killed by the rockets you mention?

4. You state “any action should be proportionate and in accordance with international humanitarian law”, please inform me of what steps the British government has taken to bring pressure upon the Israeli government to act within this aspect of international humanitarian law.

In view of the emergency situation in Gaza I would appreciate your
urgent attention.

Yours sincerely,

Response From Mr Hendrick

1. Why when you call for an immediate end to the launching of rockets against Israeli civilian targets, and to all forms of violence, you do not call for an immediate end to the use of fighter jets, missiles and rockets by the Israeli army?

Answer: The latter is a response to the former, so the Israelis would move out of Gaza as they did before if the Rockets would stop.

2. Why the British government does not condemn the latest killings by the Israeli army in Gaza?

Answer: the Foreign Secretary has repeatedly condemned killings on both sides. There are conflicts going on all over the world, if the Foreign Secretary condemned every killing going on at the moment she would do nothing else but condemn killings. Why are you not emailing me about the Sudan, Congo, Burma and everywhere else where there is bloodshed? Is it perhaps that many of the other countries where this is happening are not
Muslim?

3.You state that We deeply regret the deaths of civilians on both sides can you please tell me how many Israelis have been killed by the rockets you mention?

Answer: To my knowledge none, but I am sure they are fired into Israel with the intention of killing and I’m sure you are aware of that too.

4. You state any action should be proportionate and in accordance with international humanitarian law, please inform me of what steps the British government has taken to bring pressure upon the Israeli government to act within this aspect of international humanitarian law.

Answer: This is raised continually at the UN. I am sure you are aware of this so why pretend otherwise?

Yours sincerely

Mark Hendrick
