Israeli troops in Jenin kill Palestinian teenager

GAZA/RAMALLAH, (Xinhua): A Palestinian teenager was shot dead and two wounded on Thursday morning during an Israeli army operation into the northern West Bank city of Jenin, medics said.

Ahmed Assa’ssa, 16, was shot dead by Israeli troops’ gunfire during clashes between Palestinians and Israeli army on Thursday morning, the medics said.

Eyewitnesses in Jenin said that an Israeli army forces stormed one of the city’s neighborhoods and broke into the house of Rabee Assa’ssa, a member of al-Aqsa Brigades, Fatah movement’s armed wing.

The militant managed to escape, but the Israeli army forces detained his brother. Clashes erupted near the house, where Ahmed Assa’ssa, one of the family members was shot dead and two others wounded.

Meanwhile, the medics said that a Palestinian militant, who was critically wounded on Wednesday by Israeli army artillery shells in northern Gaza Strip, died of his wounded Thursday morning at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

In Gaza, Palestinian militant groups, mainly the Islamic Jihad(Holy War) and the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), escalated on Wednesday launching homemade rockets from Gaza at Israel.

Three Islamic Jihad militants were critically wounded Wednesday as they were on their way to launch homemade rockets at Israel,when Israeli troops fired at them several artillery shells.

Overnight, Palestinian security sources reported that Israeli ground troops were seen beefing up forces near the borders between the Gaza Strip and Israel, in order to retaliate in case of more rocket attacks.
